Event 1

Improvement and updating of postgraduate study structures

Coastal and marine management curricula in Indonesia and Malaysia currently face several challenges, such as outdated content, lack of alignment with world-leading higher education standards, and the incomplete integration of the latest knowledge on the Blue Economy. To address this gap, a comprehensive curriculum update is essential to equip graduates with the ability to meet the challenges of the modern marine sector.

This 5-day intensive workshop, scheduled for 2025 in Bremen, Germany, is designed to improve and standardize postgraduate curricula. The activity will bring together 12 participants: 5 staff from IPB University, 2 from UMT, 4 from ZMT Bremen, and 1 staff/expert from the University of Groningen.

Staff from IPB will be represented by staff from the department of Aquatic Resources Management (2 peoples), and the department of Marine Science and Technology (2 peoples), as well as 1 person from the STABLE committee. Representatives from ZMT Bremen consist of 2 Internal Experts, 1 Student Assistance, and 1 ZMT Director.

The focus is on the curricula for Coastal and Marine Resources Management (D-ARM IPB) and Marine Science and Technology (D-MST IPB). The expected outcome is a modernized curriculum aligned with European standards and the latest scientific developments, which will serve as a basis for SDG-relevant teaching materials.
